A creative exploration of movement, magic, clay and getting intimate with nature.
SYC is delighted to partner again with the wonderful Blue, from Dohm Shop & Clay Coven and KILN (Soho) to create a multidisciplinary immersion.
The weekend will explore creative and yogic practices, the natural landscape and contemporary witchcraft with delicious seasonal food, including a dinner by KILN.
There will be live music, storytelling and long walks in nature. All the good stuff we have been craving as we’ve wintered these long months...
For our weekend together, we have planned a nourishing and inspiring programme.
Mornings will be spent exploring presence and poetry through yoga with contemporary movement and breath-work.
The afternoons will be time for the exploration of creative
practices as magical endeavour.

Settle
We will be staying in the beautiful surroundings of Settle in Norfolk. An enclave of small lakes, woods and wildflowers, Settle is a retreat from the circus of modern life and an immersion into the deeply magical world of nature. You will have the choice to stay in incredible hand-crafted cabins, carriages or canvas tents, meaning you will be close to nature but with the added luxury of lake views, your own fires and beautiful bathrooms.
We will also be offering a number of camping slots for those who would rather join from their own tents. Featured in World of Interiors and Tatler this is a place for people with a keen eye for details and comfort but who still want to be connected to the natural world.

Clay Vessel Ritual
Using clay as a medium for holding our dreams, we will make vessels and learn meaningful
rituals to use on a day to day basis as part of a wider individual magical practice.
Experimental Collage Ritual
Using drawing and mark-making skills that focus on texture and pattern, we will experiment
with abstract, and non-representative drawing and collage techniques working with nature
and the natural surfaces that surround us.

For the cabin and the carriage, the prices below are for one or two people. Couples or friends are very welcome to share a bed.
The price below for camping is per person.
The price to reserve your space is £450. The camping spots need to be paid in full from the 15th July.
The remainder of your balance will be due on the 1st July.
Due to the nature of the retreat, we are unable to hold spaces until we have received your deposit.

About Blue
~
Blue is an artist, designer, teacher and practising witch. She will introduce us to using clay as a tool to create your own pertinent rituals. She will take us through creating clay vessels that will then be returned to the earth to seed our spells and dreams, and using the natural world as a tool for image making through experimental collage. Using surrealist, magical and
creative practices you will each leave with a body of work to mark your time with us.
Many people join retreats for the practises and yoga, but after our first day retreat in London, we were reminded of the power in conversations and the poignancy of new connections.
About Gabrielle
~
Gabrielle has been teaching for seven years and her offering has slowly evolved with her practise. Her priority is to create a compassionate space for people to explore their physical landscape and breath as portal into the energy body and the subtler realms within and without.
As many yogis discovered thousands of years ago, she too observed how her body hoarded habits and memories (samskaras) and that movement and breath work was the most effective way to release these tensions, to celebrate the body and awaken the mind. It is only through releasing these ghosts and our conditioning, that we are able to see the world clearly and move through life from a space clarity and connection.
She teaches a slow, mindful flow, prefaced with some kind of pranayama to draw people to the inner world. She’s interested in finding different ways to explore the body, seeking different words to communicate and new experiences to awaken. She closes classes singing with crystal bowls, to create a nourishing space for people to soften more deeply into themselves.

Lakeside Cabin for Two

Perfect for slow living, the lakeside cabin has an open plan living-kitchen space, one super king-sized bedroom and a luxury bathroom, all including considered interiors. With water lily lake views and a wood fired outdoor bath all surrounded by ancient trees and a host of wildlife.
The space within the cabin you will enjoy panoramic views of our largest lily pond lake .. from the open plan living / dining space with a large modern wood burning stove to keep it cosy. Mid century furnishings mix effortlessly with Scandi touches throughout.
Carriage No 1 For Two

The first of Settle's beautifully restored vintage rail coaches which date from the mid twentieth century. Carriage No1 combines authentic original fixtures with luxurious detailing, such as Piglet in Bed linens, local artisan soaps, and seasonal handpicked flowers from Pond Meadow.
Carriage No 2 For Two

This retired goods carriage was given a full, sympathetic renovation, using salvaged resources from our reclamation yard. Its interior cladding is finished in Bauwerk Colour, one of our favoured paint brands, giving the resulting retreat its light, Scandinavian feel.
Carriage 2’s cosy living dining area is heated by both wood-fired stove and an original cast iron radiator, making this area super snug in colder months. Its utility luxe handmade kitchen is fully equipped, original features such as the Belfast sink blending with aesthetic contemporary appliances.
Carriage No 3 for Two

Inside the main carriage you will find an elevated kingsize bed dressed with a feather duvet & linen sheets from PIGLET & plenty of under bed storage.
We have hidden a slide out table under the handcrafted bed, & a large step to make climbing into bed more magical.
Double doors that open out on to your own private wrap around decking, inc outdoor seating & dining options, and an outdoor firepit.
Canvas Tent 1 forTwo

A little closer to the summer skies, without compromising on comfort. Settle's 6 metre canvas tents include modern stylish decor, with a double wooden bed & real mattress and comfortable bedding.

The modern ply kitchen oozes style, with black Meir taps, a beautiful black Bertazzoni cooker & artisan kitchen wares.
Sliding open the hidden door you will enter the main bedroom with a wooden kingsize bed, complete with our signature feather duvets & ‘Piglet’ linens. There is a large wardrobe here, with plenty of hanging space & storage.
Leading through the bedroom is the luxury bathroom.
Within Carriage 1’s double-door entrance is a comfortable living | dining area, with wood-burning stove, and table and chairs for eating and relaxing. Beyond, a rear extension contains a hand-built, fully equipped kitchen, warmed by an antique cast iron radiator.
Off the kitchen is a stylish shower room. Like its sister carriage, this contains an antique Victorian wooden lavatory, freshly-laundered towels in natural tones, and artisan soaps by local company CLAY & Shampoo / Conditioner by La-Eva.
The sleeping area contains a double bed complete with cloud-soft mattress, down duvet and warm blankets for optimum off-grid sleeping.

Through the reclaimed railway door you will find a hand built fully equipped kitchen, inc a oven.

Each tent is hooked up to electricity for some added luxury & set on its own decking, where you will find lounge chairs & outside table, fire pit is included.
Toilet & shower block with a communal kitchen, dining space and the little yoga nest to soften into.
A mix of wood, reclaimed marble & modern black ‘MEIR’ tap ware, this space is pretty special. With a large modern minimal shower & beautiful egg bath positioned for outside views. Bringing nature indoors.
Settle have installed cast iron reclaimed radiators throughout, as well as the large wood burning stove.
Outside hosts a covered area for sitting with a book & a dining area complete with wood burning stove & new for 2021 a private wood fired bath with lake views.
Off the kitchen is an elegant shower room and WC, which boasts an original Victorian wooden lavatory, sustainable vegan soaps by local makers CLAY & shampoo & Conditioner by La- Eva. The snug sleeping area holds a unique, elevated king-size bed, with feather duvet, super-soft mattress and warm blankets for a perfect night’s sleep.
Double back doors give onto a large decked balcony with fire pit and outdoor dining area, overlooking swans, wild geese and waterfowl on an unruffled lake.
With a mix of modern & rustic interiors. You will also find a toilet | shower room with a reclaimed cast radiator, beautiful reclaimed ceramic sink & shower tray & a modern gold shower / tapware. Towels included.
The kitchen area has reclaimed cast iron radiators to warm, in addition to the wood burner in the main living space.
Camping - Bring your own Tent

The invitation to bring your own tent and set up camp within the 30 acres parkland, in a spot of your choice, with toilets, showers and outside table and fire pit.
The price is per person (rather than tent) and includes all yoga, creative workshops, three meals a day, fireside music and stories.
